THE WAY OF TRADITIONAL TAEKWONDO, VOL 1, PHILOSOPHY, AND TRADITION
Annette Palacios, Senior Master Nominee, Class 2021
Abstract
The book is written to introduce the reader to the philosophy, history, traditions, and basic techniques of Songahm Taekwondo. There is also an explanation of the rank system and ceremonies associated with rank advancement. This was the first book written to introduce Songahm Taekwondo to the world. The Eternal Grand Master emphasized the importance of a balanced practioner. He stated that “The ultimate outcomes for the Master of Songahm Taekwondo are to have mastered the things of life, to have overcome self and be in control of each aspect of life, and to have contributed to peace in the world.”
There are volumes of books on Taekwondo. However, they neglected to emphasize and reinforce the ethereal parts of Taekwondo. Songahm Taekwondo and this book attempt to bring the importance of history, tradition, and contribution to peace in the world to the forefront of our training.
One of the most significant parts of the book, relative to our advancement as Masters of Songahm Taekwondo is the testing. The book emphasizes that the test itself encompasses more than the goal of promoting. It encapsulates the primal fears of failure and embarrassment as integral pieces of success.
